In the UK, relatively mild weather has meant we usually drive on “summer tyres” all year round. However, in recent years, freezing driving conditions in winter has resulted in numerous problems for motorists.
 
If you don’t have “cold weather” tyres fitted on your car, not only can journeys be a struggle your chances of having an accident may increase. In the winter, 48% of car accidents in the UK are the result of skidding.
 
Fitting “cold weather” tyres delivers the following benefits:
  • Braking distances can be reduced by up to 20% in icy conditions
  • “Cold Weather” tyres can improve grip levels by up to 50% in icy conditions, reducing the chances of skidding.
  • In some European countries it is a mandatory requirement to have “cold weather” tyres fitted on your vehicle. Not fitting cold weather tyres could result inadvertently breaking the law if you travel in Europe.
