Improved handling and traction performance when the temperature
drops below 7C
In the UK, relatively mild weather has
meant we usually drive on “summer tyres” all year round. However,
in recent years, freezing driving conditions in winter has resulted
in numerous problems for motorists.
If you don’t have “cold weather” tyres fitted on your car, not only
can journeys be a struggle your chances of having an accident may
increase. In the winter, 48% of car accidents in the UK are the
result of skidding.
Fitting “cold weather” tyres delivers the following
benefits:
- Braking distances can be reduced by up to 20% in icy
conditions
- “Cold Weather” tyres can improve grip levels by up to 50% in
icy conditions, reducing the chances of skidding.
- In some European countries it is a mandatory requirement to
have “cold weather” tyres fitted on your vehicle. Not fitting cold
weather tyres could result inadvertently breaking the law if you
travel in Europe.
