The Government's new scrappage scheme encourages drivers to scrap their old car for new and boy....! have we got some fantastic offers!
Owners of cars registered before 29th Feb 2000 and owners of vans registered before 28th Feb 2002 can scrap them and get at least £2,000 towards buying a new one. The £300 million scheme was confirmed in Alistair Darling’s Budget earlier this year; the Government will give customers £1,000 when they scrap their old vehicle. The scheme explained:
Q. What is the scheme? - it enables owners of cars and vans 8 years old or more to get £2,000 towards the cost of a brand new vehicle.
Q. Do I qualify? - Your car must be registered before 29th Feb 2000 or your van before 28th Feb 02, registered with the DVLA, have a current MOT certificate and registered to the owner for 12 continuous months.
Q. Why has it been introduced? - to boost the UK car industry, hard hit by the global recession. Similar schemes have been launched in other markets.
Q. What are the benefits? - The peace of mind that comes with a new car - improved safety, mpg and running costs.
